There is just something special about Fall… I know it’s not just me that feels like this, right? Who else is obsessed with this season? It feels like a renewal, a fresh start – I know those feelings are typically reserved for Spring and the New Year… but for me it’s all about FALL. And I have 23 Canadian bloggy friends that I’m pretty sure agree with me! I’m so lucky to be joining in with them as we open our homes for this annual Canadian Bloggers Home Tour! This inspiring tour has been organized by and is the brain child of, Christina of The DIY Mommy and Shannon of AKA Design and I’d like to say a special thank you to them for being so gracious and inclusive – not just at “touring” season but all year long! xo
You can see all of the #CDNblogSquad ‘s stunning tours too, but first let’s have a sit on the porch!
I’ve kept it simple this year… simple with an industrial vibe. Let me tell you first about keeping things simple, that’s the most difficult thing in the world for me to do… seriously, I could complicate a straight line! Haha – having said that “simple” was actually very un-simple, but I’m thrilled with how it turned out, it’s cozy, welcoming and ready for Fall! YAY!
Some of the blankets you’ll recognize from last year’s Fall tour – I did not go out and buy anything new for the porch other than the pumpkins and a couple of thrifted items, but I did freshen some things up… Nanny’s rocker received a fresh coat of white paint, my fave paint! Casement (white) from Fusion Mineral paint, the coverage is so amazing!
Welcome to Dodi’s Porch
We thought this was our porch… ya, think again. hahaha I mean let’s be real, I should have called this, The Dodi tour! I swear she did not have a fan on her like a Beyonce concert, she naturally looks like she’s in a wind machine. She is not staged here, she just really wants to be where I am and literately bites at the door frame if she can see me and can’t be by me – and truth be told, I kinda love it! Queue the awwwwwws!
Texture and lovely things…
I can’t tell you how much I love moss… the texture and the colour does it for me and is perfectly Fall in my opinion! Moss paired with copper, twigs and feathers, YES! It’s all a match made in heaven – easiest wreath in the history of forever… but just my style!
I did have that wreath on the door… it was a bit too much mossy green goodness all in one place, besides she really does pop over on that gorgeous letter tray!
Speaking of mossy goodness… white pumpkins nestled in all of that awesome texture, I LOVE the simplicity of this so so much! I decided to leave the birch bark log with the hanging light kits from Ikea – I did however paint the top portion where the light bulb screws in… copper. Copper and Fall kind of go hand in hand, am I right?
While I love all of the vignettes on the front porch this year I think my favourite has to be this cloche… the base of the cloche is actually a bowl for nuts with a raised center that holds a metal nut cracker… I just loved the finish on the side of the bowl and decided to flip it upside down and use it as a base – LOVE IT! I used a foraged and empty wasp’s nest with some vintage wooden folding rulers, threw in some twigs and more of the yummy green moss, super simple and too cute!
Old tool belts filled with moss and succulents, don’t mind if I do! Speaking of succulents… I just can’t help myself!
Some vignette sneak peeks I shared on Instagram.
I was so excited to find some pretty green pumpkins here in Kingston this year too – it’s all about the little wins! 😉
I’m sorry there are so many photos… I only have a bajillion more, I seriously have issues! hahaha I hope you’ve enjoyed your little visit to our front porch – have an amazing day friends! xoxo
This is by far my favourite tour, firstly it’s Fall and secondly, all of the wonderful and extremely talented Canadian friends I am keeping company with is like the cherry on top – beyond epic… make sure to go visit, pin, share and love on my friends – I pinky swear it’ll be amazing! Again, thank you so much Christina and Shannon for organizing this tour, you two ROCK out loud!

I knew it would be gorgeous! Oh and those lights with the copper and birch bark..PERFECTION!
Thanks my friend, one of these days you’ll visit IRL and we’ll wheeze laugh till the cows come home! <3 Feel better, colds suck! xo
As always Laurie, simply gorgeous!! You never cease to amaze me with your talent!!!
Awwww thanks Missy!!! I’m so glad you have actually been on the front porch – taken in the vibe! xoxo
I loved the vibe on that porch…not sure if you noticed….but I spent most of my time there…..it was an open space but had such a cozy, comforting feel…..your touch definitely warms a space. xoxo
Omg so pretty!!! Everything is just fall magic!
Thank you my friend, now I need me some giant succulents! THOSE were massive!!!!! <3
Oh Laurie! It’s killing me, KILLING ME, that I can’t join you on that porch for some tea/coffe/wine/scotch *ahem* and laugh the hours away. I mean, come ON with that cloche! Is it a wasp’s nest? Close enough to honeycomb for me. It’s all fantastic though, really, I expected it to be. You never disappoint and your photography here – Outstanding. Really really gorgeous Laurie. Nice work.
Oh god lady, that would be so so so fantastic, although we’d have to go to ALL of the picking spots first, get in our very first fight (over a typewriter obvs) and come back to the porch, exhausted but thrilled with all of our goodies! I’ll keep my eye open for a “honeycomb” for you – thank you so much, your words mean the world to me! xoxo
HAHAHAHAHA I hope you know, in a throw down over a typewriter, I will always be the victor. Glad we can still be friends after 😉
pffft whatevs! And always! xo
Oh my gosh, Laurie, it’s even better than I had imagined! I am so in love with all the natural elements!
Awwww, thanks Leen, that’s so sweet! xo
Can we just start by saying how talented you are?! You are the styling queen! LOVE, love, love the details… So much character wrapped up into one front porch. And I’ll fly out with Heather so we can all sit there together. Then we’ll go vintage shopping, of course! Happy Fall, my friend!
Oh my goodness, Shauna! You just made my entire month!!!! AND, I’d adore it if you 2 beauties came here for a visit – that would be so phenomenal! Thank you so much, your words truly meant the world to me! xo

Seriously, Laurie! Amazing! I am in love with that wreath… and those lights (I’ve NEVER seen that on a porch and am in love) and all the succulents. Beyonce looks great there too 😉
Hahaha, I love our little Beyonce! Thanks my friend, we love our porch!
I am Laurie,s mother in law I have known Laurie since she was 14 years old I hate to brag but in this case I have to Everything she does she puts though, patience, and love in it no wonder it turns out so beautiful of she has talent to go with it. One thing missing from these photos is the feeling ( you have to be there) I have sat on this porch when there were lot of family and friends around and also when I was alone you can feel the though and love that was placed with every little detail I have also seen her working, very patience , very quiet, thinking all the while, arranging and rearranging thing until she feels its just right. She can see beauty in everything and she works till she can arrange it for everyone one else to see That is talent and also loving what you do I am very proud of Laurie , You go girl.
Awwwww, Grammy you made me cry this morning, thank you so so much for your kind words they truly mean the world to me. It’s SOOOO cozy here now, you should come for another visit! Love you tons, thank you so much for the love and support – priceless!

Thank you so much Jennifer, telling me I have a creative mind goes right to my heart, I get some harebrained ideas sometimes, I’m just glad others like them too! xo
Aww, Dodi IS the perfect model – very natural and untouched too! 😉 Your porch looks like it’s straight out of a decor magazine. They should book your house to make Hollywood movies! Loving the white pumpkins nestled in moss! So many beautiful details. Also loving how you painted those beautiful Ikea lights to copper! The tool belts are genius. The wasps’ nest is a gorgeous touch. I’m jealous of the green pumpkin! So much talent my friend!
She totally is, right? She’s completely natural, she would sit if I asked, but she does a pretty good job placing herself, usually. You are way too kind my friend, thank you so so much! <3 I hope you make it here one day! xo
Beautiful job Laurie! Dodi matches perfectly with the buffalo check and pumpkins ☺️
Laurie your porch looks so, so good. I love it. I want to sit out there with a big cup and coffee and talk your ear off. Love all the natural elements like the birch and the moss and the succulents and the wasp nest. I could go on and on. All the little vintage touches are amazing too. Beautiful friend.
Thank you love, I’d love for you to come visit! xo
This is all so stunning Laurie. You have such a talent for curating the most beautiful items from nature and displaying them as if they cost you a million dollars. You’re completely inspiring friend.
