I can’t believe it’s been one month since the debut of the “Cozy Living Series”! Someone must have put these months on fast forward – I mean – it’s DECEMBER already! I also can’t believe that I haven’t written a blog post in a whole month… well that’s about to change, let me tell you… haha I’ve been very busy behind the scenes getting all the Christmas things ready and I have a few posts and a Christmas tour up my sleeve, so stay tuned for that!
In case this is your first time hearing about the “Cozy Living Series” here is the low down, Jennifer from Town & Country Living asked if I’d like to join her and 10 awesome friends in her new, Cozy Living series. Of course that was a very quick yes from me! You can find the rest of my fellow, Cozy Living team at the end of this post, AND…

Finding the spirit of Christmas
Last month’s cozy project was a serious blanket ladder, we showed you how you can make your very own, you can check out that whole post here. This month we don’t have a DIY to show you, unless finding the Christmas spirit can be considered a DIY? 😉 Seriously though, our kiddos aren’t kiddos any more, so that exciting feeling of kids on Christmas morning hasn’t been in our home for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, Bud often says that he loves that I still get excited for Christmas, like a little kid, he often remarks that he never wants me to lose that sense of wonder, he’s such a sweetie! Hey, maybe he’s just trying to tell me I’m immature. 😉 Goodness knows I am though… haha I have always been the first one up on Christmas morning, for as far back as I can remember! And, I’m still that way. I was always up way before any kids in the house and would often have to wake them up! Can you even imagine? What I’m trying to say is children on Christmas morning bring an energy that is just pure magic, an excitement that can’t be matched regardless of the time you wake up, they bring a wonder and a true belief that something spectacular is about to happen! I love that magic spell they cast over the house! Don’t you?
The very first Christmas living in this home I thought we should put a lit Christmas tree in the barn… Bud wasn’t too sure about it, but I could see it in my mind’s eye. Little did I know though how one little and very simple lit tree would make Christmas so magical for us! When we are out for our evening walks the glow of the little Christmas tree can be seen from everywhere… coming home into our driveway when we’ve been out running Christmas errands all day, that magical glow greets us. It’s really hard to put into words the feeling this special Christmas tradition casts over the whole season! It’s like one huge giant sigh… a seriously good deep breath that just relaxes you and gives you that little touch of magic back, a renewed energy.
I know what you’re thinking, can a tree really give you THE Christmas feelings, the spirit of Christmas? I’m telling you it can. This little imperfect tree every year brings the magic of Christmas to our whole property for the whole season! The glow, the calm and that knowledge that there truly is magic so very close is very special.
This year’s tree was put up very early… the night we put it up it started snowing so pretty, huge giant flakes – the kind that if you stand still you can pick your flake from way up in the sky and follow it down to catch it on your tongue, have you ever done that? The quiet and stillness of waiting for that flake to fall is the feeling of magic, the exact same feeling the barn’s Christmas tree casts over us!
Most of the snow that fell the night we put this up has now gone… but I know that this holiday season is still young and we will be getting so much more snow, it’s just a matter of time.
I hope the magic and the cozy of this season finds you and bestows many blessings on you and your loved ones! Thank you so much for taking the time to read about the magic of our little barn’s Christmas tree and I hope you stick around, there is more cozy Christmas stuff coming your way very soon.

That tree gets me every time I see it! Just stunning! And it looks even more beautiful under that gorgeous green barn light!
Now I want a barn!! Just to put a Christmas tree inside it. Wow, Laurie – this is just beautiful. And how special that big fluffy snowflakes started falling when you put this tree up. It just takes my breath away – the barn, the tree, the lights, the surrounding woods. Sigh. I completely agree with you on the magic of a Christmas tree!
Oh my goodness, Laurie! I’m in LOVE with this entire scene! I want to print out a photo and frame it. What a beautiful view to come home too. We much be kindred spirits because I’m the first one up in my house every Christmas morning too. I love that you gave the barn it’s own special tree. From one possibly immature lady to another, Merry Christmas!
