Welcome back gang! I literally can’t believe it’s February already and it’s time for another cozy living post. This month I’ll be talking about how I bought something off of FB marketplace and “flipped it” to suit our cozy style here at Vinyet. I hope you’ll enjoy my flip and stick around until the end of this post to see what my clever friends are up to for February.

FB Marketplace Find – Before
As you know, the world has kind of been in lockdown mode, all my normal picking spots are not available to me right now… So I’ve adapted and have started scouring FB marketplace. Anyone else adapting? 😉 I found this cutie on one of my late night FB marketplace flip throughs… I didn’t hate the colours, I do love all things green so she caught my eye right away. But once I got it home and saw it in person I knew it had to change. Before I get into that, let’s have a look-see at how she looked when I brought it home.
My Dodi girl doesn’t go far from me… <3 I knew I wanted this cabinet for this strange little spot in our entry way. I also knew I wanted to see the inside of the top portion (love the letter sortation cubby) of this funny little desk, so I took the door off (I’ve kept all of the cool hardware for another project).
Some great storage for all the doggy things, don’t you think? Excuse the bad phone photos.
Making All Things Cozy
I love to layer in all of my favourite vintage goodies when styling. I shared this one on Instagram and if I had to show one photo to explain what I’m into when I go picking, this image says it all. 😉
Using texture and things from nature is a fast and easy way to cozy up a vignette. Bud and I build these wonderful barn-board planters, I like using them for bits of nature and decor too.
I won’t go through a step by step of how I finished this cabinet, except to say, I sanded the whole cabinet down because at one point I thought I might leave it wooden. The wood laminate was in bad enough shape that I decided to paint it. I used my favourite paint, Fusion™Mineral Paint. On the outside of the cabinet, I custom mixed two of my faves, Homestead Blue and Midnight Blue. Behind the two doors I painted it out with white, Picket Fence.
I refreshed all of the hardware with Rub n’ buff, antique gold, I love the way they turned out. Right now I’m just playing with styling it, but it’s function will be for our leashes, and doggy treats, sunglasses and basically a catch all. We needed a smaller piece in this spot because this entry is narrow and can get busy. This little cabinet was the perfect FB marketplace find. Do you shop on marketplace? We’ve found so many wonderful things for such reasonable prices a perfect way to cozy up our home without breaking the bank.
Thank you all for stopping in, I hope you’ll go check out my talented friends below. xo

Love your FB marketplace cabinet! I’m glad you removed the top door – the individual compartments add appeal to the look of it and what a great place for corralling the doggy items!
Thank you Jennifer, I’m glad I decided to keep this little gem, it’s the perfect size for this strange entry.
SUCH a great find Laurie! I LOVE the colour you chose, the hardware pops against it so beautifully too! It’ll make for some great doggy storage, just where you need it!
Thank you Kristi, it’s a perfect little piece for all the doggy stuff, the hardware was my favourite part! 🙂
What a fantastic find. Love your make, perfect color. This piece fits perfectly next to your bench. Great find.
Thanks Marty! xo
Aw, it’s super cut not and I love the color you picked. Yes I hate my picking spots being closed too and have resorted to the Market place but so far I’ve been overly cautious of going into someone’s home to buy something so I haven’t done it.
Thanks Dawn! Our zone has just opened today, Yay! I might pop out tomorrow and have a little peek around.
First, what an amazing transformation! Love it!! Second, I’m in the same boat as you! Instead of visiting my favorite vintage haunts, I’ve been finding treasures on FB Marketplace! I’ve found some great things there this past year!
I am so far behind on commenting. LOVE this cabinet and what a beautiful custom blue. Just pinned. It looks perfect in your entry. xx
