Hello my Thrifting Besties!!! This month, I’ll be sharing how I create holiday magic with my thrifty vintage finds. As you may know, vintage is how I do everything and creating holiday magic in our home with thrifty treasures is my favourite way to do Christmas. I hope you’ll like some of my ideas. But firstly, let’s have a peek at what the TST is up to.
Thrifty Style Team
The second Friday of the month means I’m hanging out with my thrifty friends again! Yippee! The Thrifty Style Team is hosted by Julie over at Redhead Can Decorate. Each month the TST will be sharing inspiring and thrifty projects with you all, you can find the whole team and all of the links to their projects at the end of my post. Here is a wonderful sneak peek, so many amazing projects. Awesome, right?!
Create Holiday Magic
I love this corner of our eat-in kitchen, these shelves get dressed up for all of the holidays. It also happens to be the best spot for all of the plants. I’m thinking you should see the before of this corner though, before I get into the magic.
Before the Christmas magic and before the snow. 😉 It’s very helpful decorating for Christmas when the snow starts to fly – it certainly puts you in a festive mood.
Hand painting the number 25 is an easy way to dress up some vintage crocks for the season. I’ve FINALLY figured out my cricut too and may have added the #25 to all the things! 😉 A very thrifty way to dress up some vintage bottles and crocks for the big day!
I love to add pops of red at Christmas time, red velvet ribbons, some red winter berries tucked into vintage vignettes is such a great bang for your buck. Winter berries are free along the side of the road where I live and you really only need a tiny hit of red ribbon to brighten a Christmas vignette.
One of my favourite little projects this season was adding some antique knob and tube insulators to my bottle brush trees. I’m simply in LOVE with how they seemed to belong together!
Can’t help myself, I had to add more.
A simple colour palette is another way to let your vintage magic shine!
Yet another thrifty practice, look for anything Christmas all year long! That sweet blue bird is an antique Christmas light bulb, I found him and a sweet red one in the heat of the summer (cheap, cheap) and he perfectly tucks into a bowl of vintage magic.
The other side of the kitchen sits one of my favourite cabinets, a treasured gift from wonderful family friends. I’m so grateful! All of my favourites are tucked in there, sitting so sweetly behind the rippled glass. Drying oranges is another thrifty way to add Christmas charm this time of year. I’ve been doing this every Christmas for as long as I can remember, adding oranges is such an economical way to add a sprinkle of nostalgia, they are so pretty in Christmas vignettes.
In this feature piece, I’ve simply added more pops of red along with my vintage treasures. And, my biggest thrifty hack ever, reuse, rearrange and redo all of your vintage. It’s like getting new pretties to play with when you reuse them in different ways, move them around and play.
Have yourself a Vintage little Christmas
Before the magical snow.
I mean I guess the snow can stick around until boxing day. 😉
Simple vignettes are simply magical. Some more views from around our home this season.
oh Santa! <3
Our tree is going up this weekend, yay! Don’t mind the mess of blankets on the sofa, we have dogs and they track in all the foot prints.
Here is the lovely red light bulb, he’s so sweet!
Thank you so much for joining me here friends, I would like to wish YOU and your family a very Merry (and Magical) Christmas! Now please won’t you enjoy what my creative thrifty friends have created for December.
