Welcome thrifty style lovers! Today I will be sharing how I made this baby’s breath wreath for Valentine’s Day. February is the month of love and this little wreath is perfectly romantic, don’t you think? It’s the second Friday of the month and that means the TST get’s together, sharing our thrifty ways! Let’s chat about how you can see more from the team before I jump into the DIY for the baby’s breath wreath.
Thrifty Style Team
The Thrifty Style Team is hosted by Julie over at Redhead Can Decorate. Each month the TST will be sharing inspiring and thrifty projects, you can find the whole team and all of the links to their projects at the end of my post. Here is a sneak peek, so many amazing projects, right?!
DIY Baby’s Breath Wreath
I’ve always associated baby’s breath with romance. The delicate white flowers arranged beautifully in wedding bouquets, sometimes adorning lovely hairdos but always looking sweet, delicate and so romantic. Regardless of where they are used, I’m sure we can agree they are darling and so adorable. I’ve always wanted to make a wreath with them and I’m very happy with how this simple romantic wreath turned out. It was very easy, this is how I made it.
How – To
1. I purchased this bouquet of baby’s breath from Costco, a huge bouquet for a very reasonable price, I do love a deal. When I got them home I simply plunked them in some water and let them dry out. It took about a week.
2. I decided to use a floral hoop from Michael’s to make this wreath, using something as delicate looking as the flowers.
3. I painted the hoop with Rust-oleum, chalked (ultra matte – chiffon cream) the colour matches the dried white flowers perfectly. I envisioned a soft, romantic monochromatic wreath.
4. Once the paint was dried I wrapped half of the hoop with a cream coloured jute. I did that because I figured I’d be able to glue the delicate flowers to the jute easier than directly to the hoop.
5. I then started laying out and gluing the little branches of the baby’s breath on to the jute wrapped side of the hoop.
6. Then it was just a matter of filling in the open spaces with more baby’s breath branches until I was happy with how full it looked.
7. I added a velvet ribbon in the same creamy white, tied a simple bow at the top. The tails of the ribbon are long and flowing, romantic.

Your Baby’s Breath wreath is so pretty, Laurie. I also loved seeing all of your beautiful Valentine’s Day vignettes.
Thank you Paula! xo I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day?
Such a sweet, delicate, romantic wreath. I wore a crown/wreath of baby’s breath in my hair instead of a veil when we were married and have always loved the simplicity of it. Your vintage goodies are amazing as usual. Love the little butter press and the forget-me-not art. Always a treat to see your vignettes!
