DIY Fall Cloche With Thrifted Finds

Welcome Lovelies! Are you feeling it too? The change in the air, the crisp mornings and dare I say the changing leaves? This changing season is inspiring me to create, yay! Today I wanted to share some simple DIY Fall Cloche ideas, all made with thrifted finds. It’s the second Friday of the month (September already – unbelievably) and that means I am joining my clever friends, The Thrifty Style Team! Let’s chat about how you can see more from the team before I jump into some fall cloche ideas.

Fall Cloche Ideas

There is something intriguing about lovely things under glass, don’t you think? I love to put cloches in my decor using my favourite things to make them interesting. This lovely copper-based cloche is being used on my fall mantel, the layers and textures are where it’s at for me this year. You can see the whole mantel ready for fall here.

This cloche holds an antique embroidery hoop with contrasting white velvet ribbon, beautifully textured feathers tucked into a rusty bed spring and some faux pink blooms, simple yet pretty. I love how this dome fits so nicely into this vintage copper pedestal, another thrifted find and the perfect colour for fall.

In my adventures thrifting I always pick up vintage nut bowls – there are so many of them, thankfully. These bowls, made from stumps of a tree (or are made to look like they are sliced from stumps of a tree) always catch my eye. When tuned upside down they make perfect platforms for a cloche and risers in vignettes. This particular cloche was a part of a past fall porch tour,  you can see more from that tour here.

A cloche need not be complicated, I find the simpler they are the prettier they are!

I love how a cloche just fits anywhere and can be changed out for every season.

DIY Fall Cloche Using Thrifted Finds

This cloche was made using thrifted and foraged goodies.  I even tucked a failed DIY project in here,  (back to the drawing board on that one) I like the way it looks under the glass, but would like the words to be crisper.  Low ink in my printer may be the culprit.  Back to the cloche, this is what I used. 

A vintage wooden spool as a base, a glass dome from an old hurricane lantern (no lantern, no problem) and some foraged moss (dried) with little bits of vintage goodies too of course. The failed project, “pumpkins” printed on some vintage paper… I’m a sucker for vintage ephemera and adore the flash cards I see online everywhere. Of course I can’t seem to find them in the wild, so I will be making my own, just some more fine tuning needed. 😉 Maybe I’ll share that next month once the kinks get worked out. 

I LOVE the fact that this “cloche” doesn’t have a top, little peeks of the goodies inside hanging over the sides.
