DIY – round labels on vintage bottles – Cozy Living

DIY vintage labels - vinyet etc

Adding layers is a fantastic way to create cozy… I love to add coziness into our home through layering, layering in more ways than just with blankets and pillows. Don’t get me wrong though, pillows and blankets are my love language! SO, please give me all of the pillows and cozy blankets too! 🙂   By adding round vintage looking tags to some of your favourite vintage bottles is such a great way to add an authentic old school look, in my humble option – adding texture is always an instant way to add warmth.  I first saw some lovely tagged bottles on my friend,  Jennifer’s blog and the wheels just started turning. I love hanging out with other inspiring creatives, even if it’s just virtually! <3 It always sparks a creative nugget!

DIY – round labels

How I make vintage looking tags for my bottles:

I love using thicker card stock… and I adore when it’s actually vintage card stock. This particular one is from an oil painting that was in a vintage frame I wanted, I didn’t like the painting and didn’t just want to throw it out.

I have a variety of different sized and shaped punches (from Michael’s)… I like using different sizes for different bottles.

For the purpose of this tutorial I am going with the larger round punch and I am keeping the painted side on the back of the tag.

I’ll be making the tag for this bottle. I love the textures of matches and I like how they look in bottles… I don’t like hunting for  a strike however when I need to light those matches. See the kitty cat paws there? He’s my supervisor.

I decided to cut the strike off of a box of matches and use a section of it on the back of the round tag, problem solved.

Strikes added to the back of the tags with two-way tape.

I like to use hemp twine or thicker jute to tie my tags on the bottles, adding even more texture. Easy as can be! Here are some photos of how these tags look, I’m a little smitten with them and I’m now looking to tag all the things! 🙂

Tagged bottles

I love having these in the cabinet beside the fireplace, they add a little something to the vignette.

I’m simply taken with how they add that little something something to the vintage bottles…

What do you think of these little easy tags? I love that I’m reusing vintage card stock. I can see turning these into  gift tags even, the potential is kind of there for the taking.   😉

And now please join me in seeing what my friends are up to for February!

I LOVE these so much! So sweet. I, of course, love all your styling. I love the black matches. Where did you find them? It’s so clever do have a strike point on the back of the labels. Happy Saturday, my cozy living friend. xx

Thank you so much! I found the matches in a local shop, they were in a little decorative cardboard box… I just wanted the matches.

So stinkin cute. I did the same thing to old glass spice jars and added a flower stem to the bottles with the vintage looking tag. Just brilliant!

Tags are cute and clever. I wish I hadn’t seen the destroyed oil! I would have bought it from you! Ha! Each to her own. I’ll remember the striker idea. I already have a bunch of tags made as I save all my scraps from other projects and when I’m doing something mindless like streaming movies I punch out forms of various kinds. Thanks for the idea!

That’s a great idea, to punch out tags while sitting and watching TV. I’ll have to try that!
