I’m FINALLY sharing how to dry peony buds with you all… I mean it’s no secret I am obsessed with peonies, I’m all about extending their presence in our home so I thought I would share how I do that for this month’s Cozy living post.
Warning, this post contains ALOT of pretty peony photos… I mean can there ever be too many?
They are one of my very favourite flowers, they smell so good!

How-To Dry Peony Buds
This peony bush is right at the end for this year’s season, she’s looking pretty ratty… I have one more clipping left to bring some of these beauties in the house, why does every season go by so quickly? Sigh. Do you see the buds that haven’t quite bloomed? Those are what I’m after when the season is coming to an end. I want those buds for drying, let me show you the very easy process.
All of the pretty buds are gathered, ready to tie… I use what ever I have on hand, jute or hair elastics.
Simply gather a few and pinch them together, then tie the stems together, leave a loop at the end to hang them.
Hang your tied peony buds wherever you can find space. I love how they l look in the drying process.
These are almost ready to vignette with, simply pinch the bulbs gently, you will feel that they are dried, they aren’t as “bouncy” as they were at the cutting of the buds.
Speaking of vignettes, let’s have a peek at how sweet they look with some vintage goodies!
Vignettes with Peony Buds
The little pop of pink, I mean it’s SO pretty!
Laying on books, in pretty crocks, they look amazing everywhere.
They will stay this vibrant pink for a long time… but they even look wonderful when they fade a little too.
I adore how they add such a feminine touch.
They pair perfectly with velvet ribbon, don’t you think?
Like I’ve said, I’m a bit obsessed with peonies, if you’d like to see more of how I use them in our home, you can see more here and here.
Like I said above, I love how they look just hanging. I will often leave them just like this. Have you ever tried to dry peony buds?
Now please won’t you go have a peek at the CL-team’s cozy ideas for July.

These are so pretty, Laurie! And such an easy project. Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea! I’ll need to try this next season. I’ll double check if there are any blossoms left on my peonies this year. Just spectacular photos!
