For those who know me know I have a barn obsession (there I said it) AND I love goodies and yep, I collect, or hoard depending on who you ask. When I came across this local Facebook auction, it was a win, win and win some more kind of situation! Seeing as Barnfull is a local place I have had the pleasure of a visit many times and while the goodies are fantastic yes, the setting is even sweeter! Not only are there barns, there is also an adorable farmhouse and it’s set right on the beautifully historic St. Lawrence Seaway.
I haven’t done a “hunting” post, my favorite type of post in what seems like forever. This one will be a bit different, only because the location I am writing about is more to me now than just a place to get goodies. The owner and I have become friends! She’s the sweetest most down to earth person and when you go pick up your auction wins, you just want to sit and chat or dig through all of the goodies in the “barn-full” with her. I go into a state of awe just seeing all of -this- in one place!
*Awe can sometimes be mistaken for drooling.*
Let me start at the beginning, Marguerite and her husband, Doug run and own Barnfull O’ Goodies… you can find them on facebook here. It’s a local auction that runs twice a month, one week the auction runs, the next week are pick-ups for the winners. Marguerite handles the administrative side and Doug hunts and does the picking… although I have seen Miss M. bidding on other sites, so I suspect she hunts some too! I actually outbid her once, but we don’t talk about that. 😉 Shhhh…
The whole story started about 8 years ago… they helped a family member who was down-sizing and started to see a trend in that effort, valuable items were being discarded and as any true hearted picker knows, these items can not just be thrown out! So the luggin’ home of “goodies” started. This sparked another interest for Doug, restoring, collecting, learning about antiques and the collectors. He started picking with gusto, yard sales, auctions, friends… you name it, much to Marguerite’s dismay all of the barns were filling and she was getting a bit over whelmed.
Meet the little barn that could, ain’t she cute?
Here are the medium and large barns… all full! AND I’d like to mention, not pictured are the garden shed and the garage, equally as full! Yep, for a picker, it’s heaven!
There are a few FB auctions around our parts, could Marguerite and Doug do this too? Oh you bet they could and they did. It’s not as easy as it seems this FB auction business, the payoff isn’t as great as some would think. People actually bid on things and never pick up… I know, right?!? Some take forever to pick up and some just aren’t respectful of the time that this takes. I think that the clients that are fans of this do know what it takes and respect M & D to the moon and back! I know I do.
Here is a little peek into their personal stash of goodies… I honestly think she is being a bit greedy with all of those tins and she should give sell me some! Right? That’s actually a joke, but whenever I score a lovely tin (from somewhere else) I send her a picture, and yes my tongue is stuck out and I am saying nananabooboo when I press send! 😉
See, so many tins… maybe she won’t notice if I “borrow” one or two?
Eye candy everywhere! <3
Beautiful little bottles and a sweet kitten…
Personally, I’m not an antique “collector”, I don’t know how much some things are worth on ebay, I like what I like, some of it has real market value, some does not, to me all my treasures mean something, that’s just as important as the retail value of something in my opinion and that’s how things find themselves into our home. Doug and Marguerite also know this to be true and this is what makes them different than most of the FB auctions, their stuff is attainable, reasonably priced and there is tons to pick through. Not only are they reasonable, they support and promote others in the same area doing the same thing, AKA the “competition”, they are not greedy, they know full well that there are enough hoarders collectors out there for everyone.
Here are SOME of my favourite finds from Barnfull O’ Goodies…
Industrial & vintage with a bit of farmhouse thrown in = be still my heart!
I am looking forward to showing you everything I do with all of these wins.
Thank-you so much for joining me at one of my favourite hunting spots. Head on over to their FB page, especially if you are local, tell them I sent ya! 😉 You never know, you might just win your next treasure.

Well said Laurie. Thanks for sharing the Barnfull O’ Goodies auction with me. I always look forward to it. As for the things many of us like to collect, you summed up my feelings perfectly. I agree it’s not about the value of the treasures we find, it’s in the finding things we love that mean something to us.
Hi Barb!!! Thanks so much for leaving a comment, that means a lot to me! <3 You are very welcome by the way, I love "hunting" with you, even when it's only virtual.
Be still my heart…there is something for everyone there!
There really is something for everyone! And if you are looking for just that right thing, just ask them, they know where or have one tucked away in those barns. 😉

I wish I lived closer too my friend! But then you’d be catching me in your barns all of the time, it would get awkward! 😉 I cheated on you again yesterday, what till you see the tin I got!!!! it’s so sweet! 😉

The reason I love, love, love my treasure hunting spots is because they don’t break the bank… it is true that you do buy more, what a minute. Ugg I am broke all the time! 😉 Thanks for stopping in!
Wow! I’d call that “Pickers Heaven!” And I was totally in the dark about FB auctions until I read your post. I kinda feel like your friends who run this place. Our 2 storage buildings are so full right now!
OH, I would love to see the goodies you would sell, I’ve seen some amazing things, like the darling little cameras. xo
The crock it idea is wonderful. I just started collecting rolling pins. I just haven’t figured what to do with them. I will have to see if I have a good crock. And don’t you think that bottle collection is getting a bit big for the shelf. Tisk tisk. Let me take a few off your hands. Ill be happy to do it. The blue barrel and gold church really would have a good home. So wish I was near by. Souldnd like you have yourself a sweet spot!
I love my little treasure, Barnfiull O’ Goodies is the best spot ever!
wow, gorgeous gorgeous.
Thanks Terri! 😀
Aaaahhh! When I find things like this, it just ends up looking like junk. I need to take some lessons from you! This all looks beautiful when you do it!
Hoping to post some lessons soon! Maybe you can get some ideas… oh and the jewels you make, LOVE!!! Maybe we could share skills. 😉
Eye candy, indeed! I’m definitely drooling. Looking forward to seeing what you do with all of your finds!
Thanks Alli, I can’t wait to get my open shelves built… then I can play with all my finds. Thanks for stopping in!
I wanted to pin every picture you have! I wish I lived closer to barns. They looks so rich and historic. Have a great Monday. 🙂
Thanks Tiff, I have a slight addiction to barns and when they are full of goodies, I swoon!
WOW!! So many treasures!! I LOVE the old fans!!
I too, as you can see, love the fans… scales though are a big weakness for me.
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing!!
You are welcome, thanks for popping in.
Wow! There is a lot of awesome finds in there! You say that it’s local, but can you remind where it is that you live?
Glad you saw where it is, I’m actually an hour from that location now, in Kingston Ontario. Worth the drive, for sure!
LOL. Ignore, I see now! 🙂
What amazing treasures you found. And I love the idea of participating in a FB auction….very cool. Thanks for sharing Barnful O Goodies with us…I went right away and liked their FB page. Have a great day!
Awesome, thanks so much! It’s an awesome page, if you’re close, hope you can get your self a goodie or two.
Oh no! This is practically local to me!! I must resist…too late…already liked their facebook page. Thanks for the share!
Well, let me know if you get something… I’m willing to share pickups, as I now live in the Kingston area I can’t go as often as I’d like. You are welcome for the share!
What a great story! and we won’t tell anyone you outbid her 🙂
LOL, okay great, I’m so glad my secret is safe here! She may have an idea though, that red tin was what I won against her. 😉
I’m sooooo jealous! I want ALL THE THINGS!
You’re making me long for a car so I could drive out and pick things up. Do they ever ship items??
Unfortunately they do not ship… 🙁 bummer I know. But you know what, that would mean even more competition for moi. 😉
OH my word I would spend hours there!! I love barn decor and antiques and vintage shopping like you would not believe. I am close but not close enough to go visit them. Too bad! Post more pics for sure anytime you go.
Oh for sure, I usually bid on something and I almost always post my treasures on Instagram, if you’d like to follow there you can see all the goodies! http://instagram.com/vinyetetc
What a lucky lady to have such a great place to antique! A little bit jealous!
Thank-you, I count my blessings every day! 😉 Friends and goodies, how lucky am I?
Yowzers! What a great place with a-ma-zing stuff! I’m with you – I like what I like whether it has ‘book’ value or not, and I believe in mixing all my treasures together to complete my home. So you might see a found widget next to a family heirloom – they’re all heirlooms to me!!! Love this post! 🙂
I’m the same way, just because it’s “supposed” to go somewhere…. why can’t I put a loved kitchen scale in the bathroom or my studio? Why do crystal door knobs not belong on a cake platter with an adorable tin? I love mixing!
Love all your stuff!
Thanks! I love all my stuff too… 😉
Oh boy! I would have been in trouble … I have a major weakness for vintage crates and tins!! Thanks for sharing all the awesome pics!
Thanks Julie, I have a few weaknesses my self… scales, tins, crates you name it! 😉
This makes me miss Ontario SO much!! What a gorgeous place. Next time I’m in Ontario you and I are going to do a road trip!!
That my dear sounds like a plan!!!! xo
Very cool finds! I am a sucker for antique hunting. Poor Jeff has spent many a Saturday tagging along while I wander around St Jacobs. One of my dream trips is to antique my way along the Eastern coast of the US.
Ummm, dream trip = sign me up! That sounds fantastic! I drag Bud along too, he likes it just as much as I do, okay, maybe not AS much. 😉
Oh, I would’ve been drooling for sure!! That’s junk heaven (sigh)
Susan
I know Susan, I drool every time I go! 😉
Looks right up my alley! Tons of great stuff — man, I would’ve been in heaven! 🙂
It sure would be fun to take you there! 😉 If you’re ever in town! <3
Wow, great pictures, Laurie. That certainly looks like a drool-inducing place! I could spend hours (days) there.
I know, I am headed there tomorrow, hope I can control myself! Fingers are crossed!
We would just like to thank you again for sharing us with all of your fans! You’re the best! xoxo
We just saw all of these nice comments that people have added here on your blog and we’re so flattered! 😀
It was hard to share you, well because I’m greedy and want to keep all those goodies to my self!!! xo You deserve all of the love and much more! xoxo
