Happy September friends!!!
I really love Fall truly I do but that was one fast Summer, am I right? Although technically it’s not Fall until September 22nd I find myself wanting to get our fireplace going, the chill is in the air. I really feel like this is my season, I’ve done so many posts about fall;
And being a nature freak I did a whole post once on how fall decorates for us… corny? Maybe, but that’s me.
It’s kind of clear really, I’m smitten with this season, what about you, do you have a favourite season?
I thought I’d rejoice in my love of all things Fall with a new blog post, what better way is there to celebrate this awesome season than by sharing all the Fall ideas with you guys?! Mantels, tablescapes, wreaths, printables and porches! Seriously there will be some amazing Autumn inspiration all this week. I’m joining in with 24 bloggy friends for this annual, “Fall Ideas Tour”, my lovely friend, Angie from Postcards From the Ridge invited me to share a fall inspired tablescape and since I like to jump into things I know nothing about… haha I said a great big YES!
Tuesday is here Friends and this is my Fall tablescape debut, I sure hope you like it? (a little needy, but also me 😉 ) Were you expecting our Fall porch? I thought I’d try something a little different this year, this is my very first blogged tablescape! Shocking, I know. haha Let me know what you think?
Now that Fall is basically here the bugs have flown the coop (no pun intended) and I couldn’t be happier about that! Eating outside is much less fidgety, if you know what I’m saying? No swatting at pests, just a cool breeze, some good company and a simple Fall tablescape. Truth be told, I only set this tablescape up for this post… but the reaction I got from both of my boys when they arrived home was so touching – they loved everything! So of course we ate our BBQed chicken dinner and enjoyed this simple and relaxing vibe! Sigh…
This whole tablescape was very easy to put together, I used my Ikea faux eucalyptus and some real eucalyptus from our local nursery along with some previously shed fallow deer antlers as the inspiration for the centerpiece. Some dried peonies and golden dyed wheat brought all of the colours from my Mom’s vintage plates into the centerpiece. Those plates were a part of a china set, given to her by her Mother. I was helping Mom organize her cupboards once and she told me should could not stand to part with these dishes, even though she didn’t like the pattern very much and never used this china! Because they were a special gift from my Grandmother she always packed them up and brought them to every new home and NEVER used them. I of course LOVE them and I’m thrilled to be using them now. I also love the linen table runner (I added some pompom trim for fun) on the black table cloth, it really is a nice contrast and pops the dishes just perfectly.
We are very casual around here, nothing very hoity toity about us and we really like it that way. I do however love our new smoked glass wine glasses from, Urban Barn they add a tiny bit of toity. That smoke colour is perfect, moody and just right for this simple rustic tablescape. I also love Mom’s vintage amber bubble juice glasses… they are my favourite. I’m always scanning thrift stores and yard sales to add to my collection.
I love how the light was changing in the late afternoon when I was shooting this Fall tablescape, it’s like nature put up some twinkle lights just for us. I told ya, I’m corny! haha
I picked up some mini wood slices one day while puttering around in a store, I’m not even sure how long I’ve had them? I do know they were in the clearance section though… a tiny bit of gold jute and some wheat, just add those wood slices with your guest’s names on their napkins this adds such a personal touch to a tablescape.
Our girl, Dodi makes all kinds of appearances over on Instagram but I’ve only posted about her once at Christmas time, she is my faithful assistant and is very helpful in everything I do. She is 10 months old now and has grown into such a loyal baby, she is such a healing addition for our family! She absolutely loves on everyone she meets a little too much, hahaha. She enjoyed this Fall tablescape too! OMGoodness, that face though!!!!!!
I added a little more sparkle by using my Mother in law’s vintage gold cutlery, to say I love this cutlery is an understatement! Bud and I have been together for many years (35 yrs to be exact) and I’ve had many, many holiday feasts at her table with these golden beauties, so many wonderful and cherished memories. I am so honoured that she wanted to give these to us when she decided she wanted to downsize, they are so special to us. We use them for all occasions, not just the big ones. These things are made to be used, making memories, telling stories and enjoying the feast.
I really hope you enjoyed our simple but beautiful rustic Fall tablescape. I also hope you will take advantage of all the Fall ideas from my bloggy friends, pop back in all week for some major inspiration.

Your porch looks so inviting and a wonderful spot for dining and I’m lovin’ those sheer, billowy drapes! The smoke and amber glassware look beautiful together with your gold accents, shed antlers and tablecloth. Your sweet furbaby and faithful assistant even matches your table. 🙂
Hi Mary, so nice to “meet” you! Thanks you for your kind words! You know what, I didn’t even realize that Dodi matches our tablescape, hahahaha I call that a happy accident! Looking forward to visiting with you and your tablescape. xo
What a stunning table, for your first one you did a magnificent job!!
Thank you so much Christine, that is so sweet of you to say! xo
Oh Laurie! I love the moody colors with pops of gold. The layering of textiles with the dishes is just so perfect. I’m also so happy to hear your boys noticed and appreciated the lovely setting. What a wonderful family! So wonderful to have a peek inside your beautful home. Have a blessed and happy Fall. Susie from The Chelsea Project
Hi Susie! Thank you so much, it was such a lovely reaction from both my Hubs and my Son so much so I just couldn’t pack things up without enjoying it with them, it was so nice to have them notice. haha Happy Fall to you, I hope your season is wonderful! xoxo
Loved seeing Dodi’s sweet face. Did her coat inspire the color scheme for this tablescape! She certainly matches. I love the smoky glasses with your vintage juice glasses. They add just a touch of fancy to the casual setting. I love it!
Hi Amy! You know what, I had NO idea she matched so closely to our tablescape, too funny! 🙂 She’s my muse I guess. I’m so glad you like our simple setting, just right for our casual family. xo
Laurie I can’t believe this is your first tablescape. Really? Because you knocked this one out of the park – or should I say out of the porch! The eucalyptus and the horns with the pops of gold are stunning. I love that flowy white backdrop. But I gotta say my fave “accessory” is Dodi. 🙂 So sweet. xxoo, Barb
Hi Barb! I did 2 mini “official” tablescapes last year – Thanksgiving and one at Christmas but this is my first blogged about tablescape. I guess the 2 last year were practice… 😉 Thanks! Dodi is my favourite accessory too, she’s just the sweetest girl! Thanks so much for stopping it, I truly appreciate it! xo
I love the simplicity of this, Laurie. The layers of dishes and the natural elements are all just perfect. And the light is fab. It’s super sweet how your table coordinates so well with Dodi, too, lol! Did you even notice that? She’s a wonderful inspiration for sure! So glad you joined us on the tour!
Hi Angie!!! Hahaha, Dodi matching our tablescape is definitely a happy accident, she’s my muse. 🙂 Thank you so much for asking me to join in on this tour, I just love all of the inspiration! xoxoxo
A most beautiful Fall table with a romantic twist set on your porch. I must say that I love your Mother-In-Law’s gorgeous gold cutlery and the accents of gold that you brought to the table to compliment it!
Love that sweet Dodi!
Thanks so much, Shirley! The gold really makes things pop, right?
How beautiful! I love the unexpected mix of colors and textures that you used.

This is just beautiful … I love the antlers and the wheat at each place!
Laurie! I am in awe of your outdoor Fall dining. The colors, style and rustic touches are perfectly balanced. Thanks for inspiring me, my friend.
As always, just gorgeous! I love how not only is it all so beautiful, there is always a sentimental value to the vinyets you create. It is classy and warm but by no means overdone. Love it!
So beautiful, girl! I love the smoky tones so much. Can’t wait to see what you come up with for the Canadian tour!
I adore the black table cloth, it just sets everything off so nicely and I really want some new drinking glass, yours are so beautiful! Love that it all holds a special memory because that is the most important part of all!
I love everything about your tablescape. The colors are so beautiful and the feel of it all is romantic, cozy, and charming!
You set such a pretty table for an early fall dinner on the porch. I loved reading the stories behind your flatware, plates, and glasses and am glad that you treasure family things.
I love the golden hues of this tablescape! How beautiful & perfect for Fall! The family heirloom touches are amazing!!
So pretty! Fall is my favorite time to entertain!
So pretty, Laurie! I love the classic black with touches of gold and those antlers! You did an amazing job.
Hugs, Jamie
You nailed the tablescape luv! I adore the unexpected, gorgeous combo of deep grey and amber/gold. And your Mom’s china is lovely. I’m so jealous of the gold cutlery. I really want some. A great place for a special meal… or your BBQ chicken, haha. xo Jo
Laurie I love your table. It turned out amazing. Love the gold and black together. I think my fav. might be the greyish glass goblets. Everything looks great.
What an absolutely stunning table, Laurie! I love how those “nature twinkle lights” sparkle, indeed! Lovely job.
Hi Laurie, I wanted to congratulate you on your first tablescape! It is just awesome and I love how you’ve used family treasures to set your table. I’m glad you told where you got the eucalyptus because I am seeing it everywhere and must get some! And Dodi has grown into such a beautiful girl and looks as sweet as can be! Lucy sends hugs!
Absolutely STUNNING! LOVE those rich and moody colours!
I absolutely love your fall tablescape! It is striking with the black and gold elements!
This is simply gorgeous. Love this fall dining rustic tablescape. It’s beautiful.
This is so beautiful…the colors are unusual and really stunning. i love that you could use family pieces, too!
Your table is beautiful! I am not into black but I really like how the white pom poms popped against it! And I’ve never even thought of smoky glass before. Your setting is so full of family memories; thank you for sharing the history.
Thank you so much Kathy! I love black because it really pops different textures and colours, by it’s self it might be a bit heavy, so I totally understand why it’s not your first choice. 🙂 xo
