Spring is in the air – even if it’s not quite outside just yet! I’m back again (are you sick of me yet?) today and I’m willing Spring into existence by sharing our living room dressed for Spring – I’m joining in with my awesome Canadian blogging friends this time and our lovely hostesses are, Shannon of Home Made Lovely and Christina of The DIY Mommy, thank you very much ladies for all of your hard work! xo
The Spring version of the Canadian Bloggers Home Tours has been live all week and you can get caught up if you haven’t been following along at the end of my post. 🙂 I know I am very excited to see all of the gorgeous decor from my fellow Canadians! xo

~It’s a wonderful and inspirational way to get lost on the webz! 🙂 You are welcome!~
We’ve been very busy around here, working away on all things Spring. If you would like to catch up on what we’ve been up to you can check out, Springtime Vignettes and Simple Spring Entrance – lots of Springspiration for your peepers.
A Simple Spring Living Room
This room – oh boy, this room is a challenge, that big old fireplace with 4 openings coming into one room and one very small window! AND, seriously how large does a TV need to be anyways? Although, it’s really nice when we do finally sit to snuggle in and watch our favourite block busters – one of our favourite down time activities, settling in to turn our minds off. Throwing my hands up I decided to start from scratch, rearranged all the furniture… cleaning and moving all of the furniture kind of go hand in hand, right? A Spring clean and a restyle and we’re ready for Mother nature to get her little butt into gear!
Creating the feeling of Spring in our home this year I focused on light, bright and nature. Beautiful flowers and lightly coloured fabrics and textures really freshen a space.
I’m still following the hygge theory when it comes to our home and I am trying to style our spaces with intention, with the thought of cozy and comfort! This is our soft place, our safety zone where we try to keep the crazy world out, it’s not perfect but we love where we live and we love our cozy space.
Some of the things I’m loving this year for Spring are these adorable cast iron baby animals – they are sooooooo sweet, it makes my back teeth hurt – that’s a saying, right? Nothing says Spring like baby animals.
Fresh flowers capture me… and I’m so anxious for my own garden to start blooming, in the mean time I usually pick up some fresh beauties at Costco (best bang for your buck). I picked up a large bouquet and divided the large hydrangea heads into different containers – more for less. They are so pretty and delicate and make me feel Spring.
I’ve loved adding greenery to our Spring space this year too (and of course vintage goodies), new little baby plants grouped together, add some little fakes too to create the feeling of nature and growth.
These frames have seen better days, they aren’t perfect but for me they have so much character and wonderful patina – group some of your favourite things together to make an impact – my Mom’s photo has my heart and I love that she is a focal point in our living room. Perfection is overrated around here, we don’t strive to be perfect, we strive to be in a space and in a mindset that is happy. It’s a simple thought, but sometimes not a simple act, it is a work in progress for sure. Gratitude for all we have, for who we have around us and for laughter – always laughter! So hang up those things that you love, even if they aren’t perfect… if it makes you happy go for it!
I think Dodi has the right idea… nap time. She clearly feels all the furniture is hers – haha truthfully though I don’t mind, she has my heart and can have it all. 😉
Pin me for later
Happy Spring guys – I hope Mother nature is providing you with Spring like weather – we’re still in a snow globe here, but it’s only a matter of time, right? Spring will get here! In the mean time…. If you haven’t already, please continue on to explore the beautiful Spring spaces from my Canadian blogging friends – just gorgeous!
Thank you so so much for sharing your time with us here.

Great minds think alike I guess! I was doing kind of a spring hygge thing this year too! 🙂 I always look forward to your tours so thanks for another great one full of interesting little details!
Thanks Courtenay, I really enjoyed all of your interesting little details too, I especially loved your plate wall and your faux blooms! 🙂
I too am willing Spring into existence over here 😉 We got a snow storm yesterday, so I’m just excited for the last one!
Every time I visit your blog I’m drawn in by the new stylistic elements, and all the little thoughtful touches you’ve placed. Well done!
Thanks Ariel! 🙂 Fingers crossed you don’t get that 40cm tonight, yikes! Spring will come, one day. In the mean time spend as much time as you can in your beautiful bright studio! 🙂
So pretty and cozy, Laurie! I love the springy feel but it’s still so warm and welcoming! You have such amazing details and finds!
Thank you so much Krista I’m glad you think it’s pretty and cozy, exactly what I wanted people to feel! xo
Your home tours are ones I always look forward to Laurie…you’re the master of detail! Your spring living room is so so lovely
Awww, thanks lady, that’s so nice to hear! I’m horribly hard on myself sometimes (most times) and it’s so nice to hear that from people you admire! xo
Your house looks beautiful! And your photography and (new?) blog layout is GORGEOUS!!!!
Thanks Shannon! 🙂 The blog layout is about a year and a half – maybe two? I can’t quite remember. 😉 I love it too, it’s so much cleaner! I have more updates coming down the pipe. xo

I just found your blog & I can’t tell you how excited I am to find someone else with similar tastes! I love your antiques & the way you incorporate them into your warm & wonderful home. Looking forward to seeing more!!
Hi Karen, I’m so happy you are here, thank you so much! xoxo
Laurie, are you able to share where you purchased the cast iron ‘critters’? Love your vignettes! (Visiting from Blogging Fifty).
Hi Julie, I actually do not know what specific store my StepSon bought them from, he was in the UK and brought them home. 🙂 Thanks for your lovely comment! xo
I’m always struck by the care and thoughtfulness that go into each of your vignettes. Then again, who knows? Maybe you’re so gifted that you do it all up super quick. 😉 Your living room looks cozy and beautiful and so spring-ready! Bring it on Mother Nature!
Thank you my friend! It’s totally a combo, some vignettes are no time at all and others take a bit of time. 🙂 But, I never let myself “play” too long because I could get carried away, so I walk away a lot and come back with the “solution”. 😉
Hi Laurie! I love your warm decor! And the frames within a frame is my style ~ love your mom’s photograph as the centerpiece, too. <3 Pinned to several of my Pinterest boards for you.
Have a great rest of your week,
Barb 🙂
Thank you so much Barb! xo
