“Create. Re-purpose. Re-invent. LOVE again.”
This concept isn’t new, it isn’t something we haven’t heard before… so what makes this shop “blog-worthy”? The two very inspirational women that own this shop are what make this “blog-worthy”!!! Oh don’t get me wrong, the “market” is full of different, eclectic hand picked items that make any kindred spirit drool and want everything upon entry, but none of this would exist without the passion, energy and personality galore of these two sweet ladies! Sweet may be a little mild, they are kick-ass ladies! They know how to market, how to network, they know how to make dreams come true! They are hard workers, and have talent and inspiration falling out of their pockets… they do not sit and watch things happen, they are the doers, the thinkers and the dreamers that make this awesome little shop pulse with eclectic energy!
Kick-ass ladies, not as in ~ they will do that to you, at least I don’t think they will… 😉 what I mean by that is they seem to be the whole pkg. They are a dynamic duo!
Vicki’s arsenal; design, film and puppet making (how cool is that) and Errin’s retail, marketing and communications knowledge is a force to be reckoned with… I first met them through facebook, their online auction. I bid on and won an Ironstone platter…
The vignette I put together with that lovely Ironstone platter… I used some twine and vintage pictures of my Dad and I… Find more of my vignettes on Instagram
When we were driving to Almonte, ON to pick up my prize, I had no idea what to expect. I knew by reading their FB page that they weren’t re-opened yet, but I was meeting them at the shop. When we arrived, things were upside down and all over, but I totally saw the pride and the potential in that place. Bud and I were invited right in, chaos and all, we chatted like we knew each other for years! Both Bud and I just wanted to stay, get our hands dirty (unwrap all the goodies) and hang out with these two! After one meeting, they knew our names and remembered details from that fast conversation, as I would find out on my return trip… a follow up message from them was the topper for me, yep I wanted to write about them, I wanted to shop at the Tin Barn Market!
I made it there for the grand re-opening and I was not disappointed! After just one meeting, I totally knew who they were, a little stalking on FB never hurt anyone! 😉 I wasn’t prepared however to walk in there and be so openly welcomed, I was a little shy at first, but; “Hello Laurie how are you? Where’s Bud today?” They even remembered that I won the Ironstone platter and had another tucked away for me to have a look at! Imagine, all they had going on with an opening of a store, they remember details like that!
Lets browse shall we…
Adventures on the road and meeting new people, new like minded people are one of the things that fuel their passions, the other is styling and creating new products, re-loving, re-inventing, they just don’t come up with awesome ideas and have someone else build, they are 100% hands on. Community support, big time, they source items for the store locally and throughout Eastern Ontario, the love of their town is evident straight away… they are the brains, the brawn and the beauty behind this shop!
There are beautiful twigs and lights and amazing vignettes everywhere… everything is zoned just perfectly.
Here are some more of my favourites, out of the 200 + pictures I took, yep crushing on this store big time!!!
Vintage goodness, hangers in a sweet metal basket, soap in mason jars… lovely details!
I adore this metal laundry basket with burlap…
Industrial <3
Adorable frames <3
I noticed this icebox right away and couldn’t resist a peek inside…
These two have a gift for networking, but I should say just genuine warmth and caring, they make you feel a part of their dream… how can they not be excited, this little community has so much charm it oozes and this shop is the pièce de résistance…
Living what you love and just talking about it are very different things… I wanted to tell you about this shop because it’s one that dreams are made of, more specifically my dreams… they have my store… not literally of course, but they have lead the way for my brain to actually believe that this, a store of your very own, is a possibility! Tin Barn Market, thank-you! <3
Please stalk follow their journey like I will be, you can find them on, Pinterest, Facebook and their website… they are so very approachable, they are open and eager to collaborate, let them know what you think and by all means, go visit this store! I sure hope you enjoyed your tour, but mostly I hope you get a chance to check this place out for yourselves! I dare you not to want to take everything home…
There are so many amazing things in this shop, I must admit I wanted too many things for myself! This is what I did take home and my goodies are very comfy in their new vignettes…
~ Added to my collection of shaving brushes
~ Antique ironing board & vintage clothespins
~ Cream pitcher ~ filled with burlap and vintage wooden spoons
Thanks for joining me on this adventure, I’m looking forward to our next outing…

This place looks so cozy. I just want to stroll through and pick everything up – like you said. I know the kind of business owner you’re talking about it does make all the difference in a shopping experience. Luckily, there are a ton of local shops in Halifax with down-to-earth shopkeepers. Thanks for sharing your pics!
Hi Janelle! Thanks for checking out the Tin Barn Market… I could and have spent hours there! 🙂 Ah Halifax is awesome! I am from the East Coast too, NB. I’d love to explore Halifax some day, I bet there are amazing shops there!
