Hello friends, today I will be sharing how I made this cute Vintage Inspired Wreath for your Canada Day celebrations. Before I share the DIY steps, let’s chat about the wonderfully creative and thrifty team, have a peek at what thrifty things they are sharing this month.
Thrifty Style Team
The Thrifty Style Team is hosted by Julie over at Redhead Can Decorate. Each month the TST will be sharing inspiring and thrifty projects, you can find the whole team and all of the links to their projects at the end of my post. Here is a sneak peek, so many amazing projects, right?!
DIY Vintage Inspired Canada Wreath
For this project I used my cricut… OR I tried to. Ugh, I realized that my cutting blade was very dull, after wasting a few sheets of cardstock that is. Once I bought a new blade this project was very fast and easy, this is how I did it.
Supplies
Cricut Explore Air (with a fresh blade) 😉
White & black cardstock, I also used some vintage music sheets.
Vintage needle-point hoop.
Black spray paint.
Steps
Paint the needle-point hoop black
I found a maple leaf pattern I liked and cut the shape out onto my paper.
I glued two leaves together, I found that just one layer was a little too flimsy, I then arranged the maple leaves until I was happy with them. Lastly I elevated the center leaf and tied some red and white bakers twine around it in a makeshift bow.
The Final Result
I’m loving how the black contrasts off of our kitchen cabinet.
Simple black and white leaves with a tiny nod to Canadian red and white with the bakers twine, I love the simplicity of this wreath.
Not an overwhelmingly red and white Canada Day wreath, I’m into this more subtle version.
Of course maple leaves had to be used… I mean they are as Canadian as can be, eh? 😉

Laurie your wreath turned out just darling! I love how you grouped the leaves together. So perfect and the spot you found for it is perfect too. Enjoy your summer!
Thank you so much Kelly! xo
Laurie, I love the simplicity of your wreath. I’ve heard that if you wad up some aluminum foil and push the cricut blade into a few times that it will sharpen it. Not sure if that works or not, but would be worth a try! Have a wonderful summer, dear friend!!
Thanks love! I actually tried that trick, whamp whamp. It was worth a try though. 😉
What a beautiful wreath and what a wonderful way to commemorate Canada Day!
Thank you so much Mary Beth, I think she is a cutie!
Super cute, Laurie!! New Hampshire is full of maple trees (and maple syrup) too.
Maple syrup is just the best, my all time favourite!
Love this, Laurie! So creative and fun. Happy Canada Day! xoxo, kristi
