Hello my friends, it feels like it’s been forever since I’ve gotten together with my Cozy Living friends, I missed them! This month I am sharing some of the ways that I use vintage wooden bowls as decor in my home.
Cozy Living
Cozy Living is hosted by my lovely friend, Jennifer over at Town & Country Living. The Cozy Living team is a group of cozy loving friends that simply love to share how we live a hygge life. There are so many inspiring and creative ways to live a cozy life and this team has all of the inspiring ideas. Please stick around until the end of my post, you will find more from my CL friends, they will also be sharing their wonderful ideas for July.
Vintage Wooden Bowls
If you are like me you see all of the wooden salad bowls in the thrift stores. I mean they are there almost every time I pop in for a peek. I LOVE wooden bowls, they are so warm and usually such a great colour! I usually always pick them up and use them for a lot of things in our home. Decor being the main use. I adore how plants look in them, all cozy and important.
Most of the time I just clean the bowls up… this one in particular had seen better days. I cleaned it with warm sudsy water and dried it very well, I then over stained it. Over staining is simply re-staining over the existing finish. This really brought it to life for me, I then oiled it with my hemp oil that sealed it and brought out the grain, perfect.
This bowl required a bit of white paint on the outside… I love how it brightened it… I just poked a bottle with some spring flowers inside it and called this vignette done. You can see more of this Spring entryway here.
I’m pretty much a sucker for any wooden bowls actually, I am very fond of the antique ones especially… they are perfect to gather some of my favourite things in a display. Wooden bowls are wonderful on their own or with your curated goodies, don’t you think?
Wooden bowls also look amazing with bottles…
Since this bowl has a rounded bottom I used a flat disc, now the bottles will stand up straight and stay secure.
I also LOVE putting candles in my bowls… this is one of my very favourite projects. You can see exactly how I did this candle bowl here.
Another look, just because. 😉 Do you love bringing wooden bowls home too? What are some of the ways you use them in your home, I’d love to know?
Thank you so much for stopping in, I so appreciate you being here! Please now, won’t you go see what all of my Cozy Living friends are up to for July.

Oooooh, so clever! I love all your wooden bowls. They look great hanging. I wouldn’t have thought of that. xx
Thank you my friend, I hope you’ll try it for one of your plants, it looks so good!
Love the candle bowl! Did you make the yarn bowl hangers? If so, do you have instructions?
Thank you Liz! I love the candles too! I did do a tutorial on the yarn hangers, you can find that here. http://www.vinyetetc.ca/easy-diy-faux-macrame-with-yarn/
Such great ideas. I need to find more bowls.
Thanks Marty, yes you do, so many things to do with them and they look great!
You’re so clever, Laurie. Like Danielle, I wouldn’t have thought to hang the bowls with plants either. And I still adore your candle bowl. I have to make one for Christmas this year!
Thank you Jennifer! I can’t wait to see your candle bowl! xo
